Power To The Trades 22 Mary Grothe from House of Revenue

On this week’s episode of the #PowerToTheTrades Construction Podcast, our host Rob McKinney has a conversation with Mary Grothe who is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer for House of Revenue, which is a digital marketing agency for companies.  Mary is a successful and seasoned sales professional who has a passion for teaching and helping others improve their skills.

The Meaning of #PowerToTheTrades

We discussed his thoughts about the many meanings of the word power in regards to the construction industry and specifically to Craft Workers and Trade Contractors.

What does “Power to the Trades” mean to her? Mary said “It’s empowering them to be confident in their specialty, their differentiating factors, and helping them scale profitably.”

According to Mary “The day in the life in construction is far different than day in the life of most in sales roles and you must have best practices and content that is produced for the trades specifically when you’re marketing and selling yourself. There’s a lot of competition and it’s very difficult to separate yourself from the competition to rise above it and to differentiate.”

How has technology powered the operations of Contractors you have worked with?

We discussed the impact of technology on Trade Contractors for improving their marketing efforts. By focusing first on their website, construction companies can better control their first impression to perspective General Contractor and Facility Owners.

Mary said “Your business card today is your website and the buyer has changed, the buyer needs to be able to find you. And even if they don’t come direct to you and find you, if they are introduced to you through word of mouth or referral, or they see some sort of marketing or advertisement, or get an email or phone call, the first place they’re going to go is your website and that’s where your website can do so much of the heavy lifting.”
