David learned first hand working in the industry just how complex and complicated construction projects can be. He spent time working with his uncles on project sites and realized how difficult it was to find the workers for the project sand to schedule their work shifts in the project sites. He created the Trade Hounds platform for address the issues of sourcing labor for construction project sites in modern way that job boards and word of mouth has not been able to address.

The Meaning of #PowerToTheTrades

We discussed his thoughts about the many meanings of the word power in regards to the construction industry and specifically to Craft Workers and Trade Contractors.

What does “Power to the Trades” mean to him. David said “it’s empowering the people on the ground, building these highways, freeways schools, hospitals, and things like that.”

David “It’s really empowering the worker in my mind that have been busting their a$ putting in, you know, breaking it backs and sweat and blood every day and risking their lives and a lot of time like in harsh conditions. So it’s really giving power back to the people instead of, you know, the real estate guys or GC’s or things like that.”

How has technology has powered the operations of Contractors you have worked with?

We discussed the impact of technology on Craft Level Construction workers in regards to using technology. If many people are using social media apps to stay connected with family and friends, is it really a stretch that construction workers would use a mobile app to find there next job on a construction site?

David “What differentiates us from these other social media platforms, like your Instagram and Facebook is we’re a professional network. You come here to post your work, it’s all about the work. They want to see what other guys done if they wanted to talk about, you know, what boots I should to get. What tools I should get.”
