Episode 27: Andee Hidalgo from Spearhead Construction

On this week’s episode of the #PowerToTheTrades Podcast, our host Rob McKinney has a conversation with Andee Hidalgo from Spearhead Construction, a metal framing and drywall contractor based in the New Your City area.

The Meaning of #PowerToTheTrades

We discussed her thoughts about the many meanings of the word power in regards to the construction industry and specifically to Craft Workers and Trade Contractors.

What does “Power to the Trades” mean to her?  Andee said “I really think that resonated with me because it gets back to that whole military background and being prepared and having an overwhelming response. And that to me is what power to the trades is because it’s allowing in those cases where it’s needed a balancing of power in a leveling of the playing field. And that’s… that’s where I’m coming from in that regard.”

How has technology has powered the operations of Contractors you have worked with?

We discussed the impact of technology on Trade Contractors for improving company operations. Andee explained “It’s what’s keeping us in business. And as you know, as a commercial contractor, that is, it’s critical and first of all, to be taken seriously by a general contractor and have be able to produce information very quickly and professionally, you know, that’s just a given.”

Andee further explained “But then to be able to analyze that information and have those foremen in the field that are able too that are able to quickly respond and understand that there’s a key piece of information that we need to be aware of and get that to us so that we can respond quickly in accordance with our contract requirements that’s the difference in, you know, surviving and not.”
