eSUB Podcast Episode #28 Recap

Episode #28 features Phil who is the Founder and President of STACK, an online take off and estimating software for construction companies based in Ohio.

The Meaning of #PowerToTheTrades

We discussed his thoughts about the many meanings of the word power in regards to the construction industry and specifically to Craft Workers and Trade Contractors.

What does “Power to the Trades” mean to him?  Phil said “there’s just candidly still today, not enough money being spent by folks in the building trades on technology which can really give them an advantage, right? Against the competition and… and against this big theme and which is ultimately failure. The business. I mean, you need to put as many tools in your back end. Technology is one of them that’s really still today vastly under invested right under invested by the building trades.”

How has technology has powered the operations of Contractors you have worked with?

We discussed the impact of technology on Trade Contractors for improving company operations. Phil explained that he has a customer who recently shared with him that “We were doing roughly 600,000 dollars a year in business three years ago. When you guys told me STACK and he said it’s really provided such efficiency and such an increase in the pace at which we can put new bids on the street. He said we just finished 2000. We’re close to finishing last year and we are north of 6,000,000 dollars an annual revenue.”

Wrap up

This was another excellent discussion about the use case of technology in the construction industry, and how we can improve moving forward this year!

To all the trade contractors out there reading or listening, keep up your incredible work, and thank you for building and servicing the world we live in!
