eSUB Podcast Episode #19 Recap

Episode #19 features Jake who is a Project Engineer for Lang Masonry & Restoration Contractorswhich is a masonry contractor based out of Waterford Ohio. The team at Lang specialize in exterior masonry projects for commercial, educational and industrial projects. Jake is part of the office team assisting the Project Managers with various workflows such as submittals, plan file management and coordinating on site activities.

The Meaning of #PowerToTheTrades

We discussed his thoughts about the many meanings of the word power in regards to the construction industry and specifically to Craft Workers and Trade Contractors.

What does “Power to the Trades” mean to him? Jake said I think of basically… the power of the different construction management software and how valuable it is to use that to really make everybody’s lives easier by just providing a way to track things and document. And it really helps to keep things on schedule and provides a way for everything to integrate together.”

How has technology has powered the operations of Contractors you have worked with?

We discussed the impact of technology on Trade Contractors for improving communications. By using new apps on mobile device from the field construction crews can update the management team in the office about the status to schedule and operations.

Jake said  “So there’s a lot of moving parts. And in order to keep things on schedule and on track, there has to be a way to document and all the different things going on at the same time. And that has become much easier through the use of eSUB.”

Wrap up

This was another excellent discussion about the use case of technology in the construction industry, and how we can improve moving forward this year!

To all the trade contractors out there reading or listening, keep up your incredible work, and thank you for building and servicing the world we live in!
