The Meaning of #PowerToTheTrades

We discussed his thoughts about the many meanings of the word power in regards to the construction industry and specifically to Craft Workers and Trade Contractors.

What does “Power to the Trades” mean to him. Josh said “It means that there is a sense of the design teams that the GC’s and Owners understand the importance of the trades. And that hopefully the contract start to reflect that they are involved earlier in the process, we need to empower the trades.”

How has technology has powered the operations of Contractors you have worked with?

We discussed the impact of technology on Trade Contractors for improving communications. By using new apps on mobile device from the field construction crews can update the management team in the office or event then fab shop about the status to schedule and operations.

Josh said “ What I see when it comes to technology when it’s done right. You really integrate the technology with people and process, and then the technology is the connective tissue. That allows us to work together in a more efficient manner, you know it’s it’s not about just throwing technology at a problem.”
